The Porsche 911 was introduced in 1963 at the Frankfurt Motor Show; it was to replace the 356 and was more powerful, larger and more comfortable. Initially designated as 901, this was changed before its release in 1964 to keep Peugeot happy.

One of the most desirable 911 road cars is the 2.7 RS of 1973 and these regularly change hands worldwide for in excess of A$400k. In 1974 the 911 had a redesign to meet US law; this meant the fitment of impact bumpers, the integration of these was so successful that the design was retained for nearly 15 years. The 1974 could be classed as a real bargain; it is mechanically identical to the 1973 car, producing the same power and weighing exactly the same, all this for less than a third of the price! Not sure about you but that sounds like a good thing!

This car was ordered new through Chateau Moteur in Adelaide and is what is known as a tourist delivery, this basically means it was ordered by the client in Australia to Australian specifications but was picked up by the client from the factory in Germany; it was quite common back in the day.

With fewer than 20 of this model delivered to Australia it is certainly a rare sight and in the eye catching Sahara Beige colour scheme it looks super, it really shows off the Black of the Carrera script and the Fuchs wheels.

The car is very original and as such it is not a concours car, it has also had some non-factory parts fitted during its life such as Recaro seats (originals supplied with the car), strut brace and short shift kit, these are all easily reversible if required. The car has a good service history that includes an engine rebuild  and comes with all its original log books, tool kit, air compressor and spare wheel.

While it is not a show car, you would certainly be happy to use this car every day and it would provide stylish, individual and reliable transport that stands out from the usual Euroboxes!
