Just like Dick, I love these Group A Juggernauts. Keep the boost low and you could take them to shops with your Mother aboard. Turn the wick up and prepare for some eye opening, boost induced adrenalin, that quite frankly becomes addictive.
Outside of a select circle of Sierra tragics, it's a little known fact that Dick Johnson Racing (DJR) had 6 Group A Sierra's. All are intact and accounted for, with Chassis #'s 1&2 in the UK, # 3 in Western QLD, #'s 4&5 with yours truly and # 6 also currently based in QLD, but actively looking for a new home.
Once Dick stopped asking the Europeans for advice on what maketh a quick Cossie, Dick's Sierra's were an unbeatable force. The history books show the years from 1988 through to 1990, were very kind to the striking Shell DJR Sierra's, before the Nissan GTR came along and redefined the term 'unbeatable'.
In 1989, Dick and "Bowie" (Pronounced: Bow of a boat followed by an EEEEEE) were akin to Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme in CAN-AM's heady days, before they met their own personal GTR, in the form of Penske and the 917-10 and 30. Somehow the "Dick N' John Show", dosen't have the same ring as the "Bruce N' Denny Show"... But the amount of pole positions and1-2 finishes they shared, allow such a claim.
Equipped with a 6 speed box and all the bell's and whistles that you would expect from a top Group A team, DJR 6 is undergoing an engine freshen up and will be track ready upon sale. The car presents well, but would benefit from a thorough detail, which the lazy owner didn't do before sending me the pics, DID YOU CHRIS??!.
